Yam Bean - มัน แกว - Mexican Potato Jicama - Singkamas - Potato Bean
Jicama is also called Mexican yam bean or Chinese potato. Like potatoes, jicama grows underground as a tuber. Covered with a thin brown skin, it has a short root attached. Inside, you'll find white flesh that looks like an apple or raw potato. Raw jicama is sweet, juicy, and crisp, perfect as a snack vegetable. It's a good substitute for water chestnuts in stir-fries.

Guava

Guavas are one of the most common fruits you'll find on the street. They are always in season and always popular for afternoon snack. Thai guavas are about the size of an apple, or slightly larger. The thin skin is light green while the meat of the fruit is usually white, with a very similar texture to an apple. At the center of the fruit is a cluster of small hard seeds about the size of a peppercorn. There are also varieties with pink flesh, although these are usually rare.

Festival of Fruits
It is that time of the year when the eastern provinces of Chanthaburi and Rayong wow friends and families to their orchards with mangosteen, rambutan and an assortment of other fruits.
Starting this weekend, the eastern province of Chanthaburi will be holding its annual fruit festival. It's a specially happy time for kids as they can pluck rambutan, mangosteen or longan fresh from the trees and eat them too.
